Peach and Pine Home -SpringHillKitchen-06.jpg

We, like many of you, are spending more time at home these days. The past few weeks have reminded us about the importance of truly loving where you live. We JUST moved into a new house (read about that journey here), which has been a huge faith journey and an important part of our story that is continuing to be told. We thought it would be fun to detail a few of the things we’ve purchased/tried out since our move that we are really enjoying! These are all available on Amazon.com or other websites that deliver, so you don’t have to break your social distancing to acquire any of them 🙂

Our Current Favorite Deliverable Home Items

  1. Mesh Retractable Baby Gates – We’ve loved having this retractable baby gate in our new home! With this design, its much more compact in the “open” position (it just rolls up!). So in a home with smaller spaces or a tight staircase entry, this is a great option! Bonus option -if you have pets that need to get up and down your gated stairs, check out this baby gate with pet door.

2. Blackout Curtains – these come in a variety of colors (we have neutral) and lengths, so they are perfect for the nursery or a kid’s room. These are FULL blackout, and they do a great job of blocking light. We’ve seen a huge improvement in our son’s naps since installing these, which is really helpful to have that extra chunk of time to work in the afternoons! Don’t forget to get curtain rods if you’re tackling this project!

3. Smoker Box for the grill – With the coming of Spring, we are finding ourselves grilling out more often for dinner! Jeremy picked up this little smoker box a couple of weeks ago and it is AMAZING. You simply fill it with wood chips and put it on the grill as you grill normally, and it essentially makes your grill into a smoker, infusing that yummy smokey taste into your food. We’ve used it on burgers, chicken, and pizza so far (yes we GRILL our pizzas!) and have loved it. It’s an easy way to add a little flavor to your dinner without extra ingredients.

4a. Lithonia Lighting Recessed Can Lights – Ok this one is a little more intense than the previous few, but if you’ve been thinking about putting can lights into a room in your home, now is a great time to do it! We switched out a dated ceiling fan in our back den with these (see goofy pictures below) and they make an immense difference. They are super low profile and require NO HOUSING, as they are rated to contact both insulation and water. They are the simplest can lights I’ve ever installed. A lot of you may already have the other pieces necessary to install these, but in case you don’t, here are the basics:

  1. 12/2 Romex Wire (from Home Depot, but they deliver)

  2. Wire Caps, Wire Stripper, and E-Tape Combo Pack

  3. Wire Fish Kit

  4. Smart Switch/Cover (doesn’t have to be smart, but why not?)

  5. Junction Box and Cover

Obviously the amounts and specifics that you need for your projects will vary, but these are just the basics to get you started planning!

4b. Halo Can Lights – if you’re simply REPLACING old can lights with new can lights, these from Halo are awesome. We just put these in our master bedroom, and what I love about them is that you can choose the color temperature via a switch on the back! It’s a really cool feature that allows you to choose what’s best for your space, and they are SUPER easy to install. I did 4 of ours in about 10 minutes!

5. Simple Metal Platform Bed – If you’ve been thinking about switching up a bed in your house to something simple and sleek, this is a GREAT. It’s very inexpensive, and you can still use a bed skirt on it and NOT use a box spring. When we moved into our new house, our queen box spring wouldn’t fit up the stairs. We bought this to use, and it has worked great for us!

So there you have it! These are just a few of the things we’ve been loving since moving into our new space. What new things are you loving right now?
