This has been a summer of travel for me. I have been there and back again for both work and fun. I live in a town of minstrels and nomads (aka music city), and I feel like I understand what the life of the traveler is like a little bit better. Let’s look at some stats.

In the last 11 weeks since the start of summer, my life has looked like…

25 cities
16 flights
9 trips
38 days away from home

Phew. I’m tired. I feel like I’ve been running on adrenaline from trip to trip. Coming home from one thing, going to work, and making sure all the details are in place for the next. I am so looking forward to a more relaxed Fall, and I am going to take full advantage of relaxing weekends, Fall decor projects, and pumpkin spice candles.

I am a creative person, and while sometimes it can feel like constantly being on the go doesn’t give me space for creativity, I want to flip the script. I don’t want to let all that travel go to waste. While I haven’t had time to do as much home design and projects around our space, I kept a lookout for inspiration wherever I went. If you’re reading this blog, you are probably creative yourself. So how do you find creative inspiration in the world around you?

I love to draw creativity from the colors, designs, and textures of the places we visit.

Sometimes inspiration comes in the form of beautiful houses in different styles from your own…

Don’t let traveling moments pass you by. Even when they are quick trips for work. Creative minds are fueled by new experiences. All of my summer travels were here in the United States, and yet there were so many new cultural experiences to be found. Taste, see, smell, hear and remember the places you’ve visited. Whether you’re a musician, a designer, an artist, a photographer or any other creative…those memories inform your art.

Also, don’t wait for the new places. Find inspiration in your own backyard. It’s there…waiting for you.
