Jeremy and I went on a little vacation over labor day weekend. We planned for months to go to Disney World, and when it fell through at the last minute (9 days before we left), we made a quick switch to the other side of the country and decided to visit Los Angeles. And we had such a great trip! It was our first vacation together to a city (rather than just to the beach), and we felt like adventurers.
I am normally Polly Plans A Lot, and I have everything planned down to the last minute, but this time, with so little time to plan in advance, I took a new approach and just went with the flow (as Jeremy has been trying to convince me to do in all aspects of life for years). I tried it, and it worked! We had a blast, and (for the most part), we didn’t stick to a plan. We just played and explored in So Cal!
It wasn’t the perfect trip. We both got colds, and we sniffled and coughed our way through vacation, but we didn’t let it taint our time!
When we landed we went straight to In-N-Out Burger…which was great, but I have to admit it didn’t quite live up to the hype. I’m sorry if I am squelching the spirits of any die hard In-N-Out fans.
We spent the first evening heading South from our home base in San Pedro. After a quick stop in Long Beach, we drove down the coast to Huntington Beach and did a little shopping and admiring the beautiful views.
On Day #2, we took a day to road trip up the coast from San Pedro to Malibu, and we enjoyed every second of the gorgeous coastal views and interesting people. In San Pedro…
In Palos Verdes…
And diverse Venice Beach…
And in Malibu. Through a chance meeting, we were able to watch the sunset on the deck of a Malibu beach house. One of my favorite memories from the trip. We finished the day off with a sushi date night.
We loved the quality time in our little rental car and the beautiful views from every part of the LA coastline. My only complaint…Los Angeles TRAFFIC! It makes Nashville look like Small Town USA!
Tomorrow…I’ll share the time we spent exploring the city.
Thanks for following along as I divert from home projects to share about our trip…I am painting some nightstands, refinishing a windowpane, and testing bathroom paint colors for the blog now!
Looks like y’all had a great time! Did you end up using airbnb?
We did! I am planning a post on that later this week. It worked for us, but the jury is out on whether we would do it again!
